Not grass and lots of water

I don’t know how to tell you about the place I went to today.

It didn’t have wood shavings, or bedding, or kitchen floor, or carpet, or grass, or pavement.

It had something else – a bit like garden but not like garden.

It didn’t smell like anything else I’d walked on and made my toes feel different.

When I first trod on it, my feet didn’t do what they were supposed to do.

We went a bit further and then it was good to run on.

Sometimes my feet sank in and it wasn’t good to run on.

It was bigger than I’ve ever seen before.

It went on and on and I didn’t see a fence or a hedge.

Spike was excited – he’d been lots of times before.

And there was water on the ground. It was a long, long way away, but there was definitely water on the ground.

Mum called it beach.

Some nice visitors came with us and the smaller ones who liked running around ran around and played with me 🙂

Then water came out of the sky. I know about rain, but this wasn’t like any rain I’d seen before. Everyone called it stair-rods!

I thought that was a funny thing to call rain and everyone was laughing, so maybe that was a joke, but I didn’t think it was funny and sheltered in here:
